The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investing over $90 Million to airports nationwide to help reach the goal of net-zero emissions to the country by the year 2050, as part of the Airport Improvement Program.
The FAA said that the intention of the said investment is to help American Airports to be more sustainable.
Airport Improvement Program is a grant initiative that provides over $3.18 billion annually in grants for nearly 3,500 eligible airports.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is funding more than 20 airports nationwide through the investment of over $90 Million to support the goal of net-zero emissions in the country by the year 2050. This investment is from the Airport Improvement Program grants totaling nearly $268 million.
The funding is part of the Airport Improvement Program for 2022-2024. The funding will be utilized for projects like installation of solar power, vehicles electrification, and to ease the transition to unleaded fuel of aviation airports.
The Airport Improvement Program grant of $92 million will go to 21 airports to be utilized to improve infrastructure and transportation.
The FAA also stated that the investment for Airport Improvement Program will additionally help support good-paying jobs.

The Airport Improvement Program funding will help American airports to reach the net-zero emissions goal in the next 27 years of the President.
Alliance For Aviation Across America noted that the Airport Improvement Program is from the Federal Airport Act of 1946, and is the first serious effort designed to have a system for national airports.
The funding for Airport Improvement Program grant was from the Airport and Airways Trust Fund. The fund for Airport Improvement Program is from the derive revenue from taxes and fees imposed on airplane operations, including airplane tickets taxes as well as fuel taxes used by general aviation aircraft.
Alliance For Aviation Across America also noted that according to the FAA, an airport must be included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems to be eligible for the Airport Improvement Program grant.
