Shooting Crime 10 years ago
In a published article released by The Los Angeles Times, Etienne Maurice was 21 at the precise moment of the crime and a student at Drexel University in Pennsylvania. Maurice was grabbed at gunpoint outside a West Philadelphia club by two men who wanted to shake him down for cash and belongings during a night out drinking with friends, he told The Times in a June interview. After Maurice resisted, the guys – a father and son — shot at him five times, twice in the leg, leaving him with long-term nerve damage. A third bullet struck him above the eye.
In the AARP interview, Ralph also mentioned another difficult time for her son, who was engaged in a car accident while in college and suffered permanent brain injuries. She praised Maurice’s recent victories following his full recovery from both accidents, and she spoke of her children as the “greatest gift.”

Sheryl Lee Ralph talked about the horrible experience it was when she got a notification that her son had been shot. After her son was shot three times, Sheryl Lee collapsed. As stated by Sheryl Lee Ralph in a CNN report, his son was mugged and shot three times, and his son woke up in the hospital with two bullets in his leg.
Sheryl Lee Ralph is thankful that after all that has happened, his son is doing well today and running his own production company.
