According to a New Jersey prosecutor, the 2006 unsolved serial killer cases of four sex workers near Atlantic City and other sex workers on Long Island do not appear to be connected.
In a report published by CBS News Philadelphia, detectives from Atlantic County’s prosecutor’s office recently met with detectives from Suffolk County, New York, he added, and they shared information on the two sets of homicides involved in the unsolved serial killer cases.
Both agencies’ officers studied the “timelines, dates, methodologies, etc. of both cases,” the prosecutor claimed.
He claimed that there was no link between the suspect in the Gilgo Beach case and the 2006 unsolved serial killer cases in Atlantic County.
A request for comment on Tuesday was not immediately answered by Suffolk County Police Department representatives.
To face murder charges in the 2010 killings of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello, whose corpses were discovered in a bushy area of Gilgo Beach on Long Island, Rex Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect, was set to appear in court on Tuesday.
He is also a suspect in Maureen Brainard-Barnes’s homicide from 2010 as well.

He entered a not-guilty plea in his unsolved serial killer cases.
In a report published by AP News, as soon as the victims were discovered on Long Island, rumors started to circulate that the killer or killers may have also been responsible for the 2006 unsolved serial killer cases of four women, whose bodies were discovered in a drainage ditch behind a stretch of shady motels just outside of Atlantic City.
The two unsolved serial killer cases both involved sex workers, whose corpses were placed nearby in wild, overgrown locations.
In the New Jersey cases, which occurred in Egg Harbor Township, close to Atlantic City, no one has been charged.
According to Reynolds, the cases are still open and ongoing.
He said: “Authorities will keep looking in all directions until the person who committed those crimes is brought to justice.
Police from Atlantic City and Egg Harbor Township as well as state and federal authorities are conducting a combined investigation.
