A shooting incident happened last Friday as the Orlando Police Department officers stopped a vehicle as part of an investigation of a Miami homicide case. 2 officers were shot by the suspect who was inside a car.
In the said shooting incident in Florida, 2 officers were hospitalized after the suspect shot them during an area-wide manhunt in Orlando.
The area-wide manhunt was part of the police’s investigation on a Miami Homicide case. In a news conference, Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith stated that the officers who were shot on the said shooting incident were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Smith said on Saturday afternoon that the police officers that were shot on the said shooting incident were lucky to be alive as they sustained critical injuries during the shooting incident. The officers’ identity was not immediately known.
After the shooting incident, the suspect carjacked another vehicle and police pursued, but they did not immediately caught the suspect.

The shooting incident suspect was identified as Daton S. Viel, 28. Aside from the shooting incident, Viel also has a long list of criminal history.
In an AP News report, after about seven hours, the police managed to track down at a Holiday Inn near Universal Orlando Resort in the tourist district of the city. The hotel guests were asked to evacuate the hotel, presumably to avoid any of them getting harmed if another shooting incident were to happen.
Viel was said to have barricaded himself in one of the hotel rooms and took a shot at the SWAT officer who in turn fired a shot to the Viel. Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith confirmed that Viel was shot dead during the encounter.
Orlando Mayor, Buddy Dyer, was said to have visited the officers who were shot during the shooting incident and met with their families. The injured officers are expected have a full recovery.
