Several pets tragically drowned at a dog daycare center in Washington D.C. on Monday, after a severe flooding which caused a wall to collapse, leading to the animals’ unfortunate demise.

Several pets died while 20 dogs are rescued from the flooded dog daycare center.
Firefighters successfully rescued several employees and 20 dogs from the dog daycare center building in northeast D.C. However, D.C. Fire and EMS Chief John Donnelly did not specify the number of dogs that unfortunately lost their lives in the said dog daycare center during the flood.
Pet owners anxiously waited outside the dog daycare center, hoping to be reunited with their dogs, while officials worked tirelessly to rescue the animals from the dog daycare center. The animals were wet from the incident, but thankfully no employees of the dog daycare center were injured.
During the incident, water rapidly engulfed the dog daycare center, rising 6 feet up its front, and entered the building after a wall collapsed. Unfortunately, some dogs lost their lives as a result.

Donnelly commended the employees of the dog daycare center for their bravery, referring to them as heroes.
According to Donnelly, the said dog daycare center was in the process of contacting the owners of the pet that died during the incident, Yahoo News says.
The dog daycare center expressed their deep sadness regarding the recent incident at their Rhode Island Avenue location. The dog daycare center expresses gratitude towards their employees and first responders for their swift and courageous actions in rescuing the animals.
The dog daycare center is fully focused to providing support to their affected employees and clients during this challenging period, Yahoo News added.
The dog daycare center, District Dogs, has stated that they do not have any additional information about the incident at the moment and are currently collaborating with officials from Washington D.C. to thoroughly investigate the situation.
