In an ongoing effort battle organized retail theft, undercover police conducted an organized retail theft sting operation at a Nike store in East L.A.
The said operation to combat organized retail theft crime resulted to the arrest of 10 thieves.
The said organized retail theft arrests were made by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department last Thursday and Friday.
Detectives from an the LASD burglary-robbery task force collaborated with the East Los Angeles Station Crime Enforcement Team, Summer Enforcement Team, and Nike Loss Prevention to conduct surveillance operations to combat organized retail theft.
The undercover Police pretended as young couples on a date at the Nike store, which has been plagued by various organized retail theft.
The goal of these operations was to catch suspects, prevent to combat an organized retail theft activity, and ensure the safety of people and property.
According to a NBC Los Angeles report, District Attorney George GascĂłn has promised to actively pursue and punish individuals involved in organized retail theft crimes through the specialized task force and division.
NBC Los Angeles added that four individuals have been charged with organized retail theft in Riverside and Los Angeles counties, relating to smash-and-grab incidents. In addition, six others have been charged separately for an organized retail theft connected to a shoe store in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles.
The police are still seeking more suspects of organized retail theft.
