According to a team transcript, Chargers’  Joey Bosa said on Thursday, “Every year, I want to play great, I want to help my team, and I think that more than ever, I just want to win some games.” The talent we have, especially with Khalil Mack on the other side, if we just do our thing, and stay consistent, then we’ll both be successful. “Doing my job is, I think, more important than ever.

I want to be dynamic and make plays and all of that, but I think being a team player is the most that I can be, while still going out there and being myself and making these plays.”

Chargers’  Joey Bosa’s skills aren’t deteriorating, but he missed 12 games last season due to a groin injury. Chargers’  Joey Bosa is also realistic about the Bolts’ roster’s talent and understands that the window for greatness isn’t open for very long. All that talent hasn’t yet translated into a postseason run. Therefore, the urgency.

Chargers’  Joey Bosa was chosen third overall by the Chargers in the 2016 NFL Draft after playing a significant role in Ohio State’s run to the national championship in 2014. As the Associated Press NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year to start a career that has seen him selected to four Pro Bowls, he was an instant game-changer.

Statistics, honors, and the lucrative second contract were all obtained. However, the Chargers have only made the playoffs twice and haven’t gone past the AFC Divisional Round in Chargers’  Joey Bosa’s seven NFL seasons. The Bolts are still searching for their first Super Bowl victory despite not making the postseason in back-to-back seasons since a run of four straight appearances from 2006 to 2009.

It’s not as though I didn’t want to win before, he added. “The opportunities get smaller and smaller as I get older. When you’re a rookie, you have your entire career ahead of you. The personal goals and the personal accolades, I feel like, as you get older, just don’t quite mean as much. Winning Defensive Player of the Year would be an honor and all that, but going out there with your team, with your friends, with your brothers that you’ve built the connection with, I think is a much more lasting accomplishment.

“I’ve won a (national championship) and a state championship (in high school), so to be able to be the best in the world… would be incredible. I think the most important part is just going on that journey and trying to enjoy the ride.”

Chargers’  Joey Bosa and his Bolts will embark on that journey on September 10 when they take on the visiting Miami Dolphins.
