The Utah State Board of Education announced a free school meals or reduced-priced meals for children who can’t pay in full.

In a report by abc4.com, it is a privilege that the Utah State Board of Education announced a policy for children who can’t pay the full price this school year. They can have free school meals or reduced-price meals and milk.
The program includes free school meals on National School Lunch, School Breakfast, after-school snacks,s, and special Milk programs. The Utah schools that are participating in this program will be giving out information and accepting applications after July 1 for the school year 2023-2024.
The qualified for the free school meals program must be eligible with the following criteria. They should come from households who are currently approved fo Food Stamps (SNAP), Family Employment Program (FEP), Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) or anything with Medicaid programs. If they have this then they can enjoy the free school meals and reduced-priced meal or milk benefits.

In another report published by Utah Policy, according to the officials, there are some ways that a household can be qualified for free school meals. First, the Local Education Authority (LEA) will have a direct certification process in order for the children to be approved for free school meals, and no application is required. Second, they can contact the LEA notifying them of what assistance program they are included.
For those who are not immediately certified, application packets or instructions on how to fill out an online application form have apparently been sent home, along with a note to parents or guardians. Please submit the completed application to the district or school office.
This is the list that a household must provide for the application for free school meals:
Names of all household members
Last four digits of the Social Security Number of the adult completing the application, or a statement that the person does not possess one
Income received by each household member with income frequency and income source noted
Signature of an adult household member certifying that the information provided is correct
The Applications for free school meals will be open for the entire year to the school. If changes occur on the household or a member of the household will be unemployed, they have to immediately contact the school.
Foster children who are wards of the state or the court are entitled to free school meals.
