Former Federal Prosecutor who helped in the investigation of the Trump-Russia probe admitted on Wednesday that she left the team because of Attorney General William Barr’s public comment.
Former Federal Prosecutor Concerns
In a report by POLITICO, a Former Federal Prosecutor, who helped in the investigation of the Trum-Russia probe, said on Wednesday that she quitted because of Attorney General William Barr’s public comment about the case and because she really disagreed with the draft of an interim report that considered releasing before the election.
Nora Dannehy, the former federal prosecutor, told the Connecticut state legislators during her confirmation hearing as a nominee to the state of Supreme Court that she simply wouldn’t be part of the investigation so she resigned. That was the first time that the Foremer Federal Prosecutor, Nora Dannehy, shared about her sudden resignation from the probe overseen by the former special counsel John Durham.
Barr nominated Durham, a former U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut, in the spring of 2019 to look into possible wrongdoing on the part of government employees and others in the early stages of the FBI investigation into connections between the Trump 2016 campaign and Russia. Trump had hoped the investigation would reveal a “deep state” plot to sabotage his campaign, but by the time Barr resigned as attorney general in December 2020, the president and Barr had grown increasingly estranged over the investigation’s slow progress and the absence of any ground-breaking conclusions.

The investigation was concluded last May with two underwhelming results. First, a Single guilty plea from a little-known FBI lawyer resulted in probation and the two acquittals at trial by juries.
In another report published by KRDO, Dannehy, the former federal prosecutor and also the first woman to serve as the U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut, said to the lawmakers that politics doesn’t really involve themselves on their role on how she must carry out her job as a federal prosecutor and she thought that she will be returning to Justice Department when she joined the Durham’s team.
The former federal prosecutor said that Barr’s comments were taken into a political way by the reports. Whether he intended that or not. She doesn’t know. She did not disclose what happened to the investigation because the information is very private.
Although Durham’s assessment did point up serious issues with the FBI’s investigation between Trump and Russia, such as serious mistakes and omissions in wiretap requests made against a former Trump campaign employee, much of the conclusions had previously been made public by the Justice Department inspector general. Durham also came to the conclusion that the FBI’s errors were primarily caused by “confirmation bias” rather than partisanship or overt political bias, despite the fact that Trump had hoped to use the report to paint the FBI as biased against him.
On his June Appearance, Durham did not answer the questions pertaining to the Former Federal Prosecutor’s resignation before the House Judiciary Committee saying that it is not part of his talk.
Dannehy, 62-year-old Connecticut native, the former federal prosecutor, also served as the U.S Attorney of the District of Connecticut from 20228 to 2010 and later was appointed to be the deputy attorney general for the state of Connecticut before taking a job to the United Technologies Corporation as associate general counsel for global ethics and compliance.
By a vote of 30 to 4 on Wednesday, the Judiciary Committee of the General Assembly approved her nomination. The General Assembly will vote in its entirety next week.
