Southern Minnesota man is facing charges of felony endangerment as well as manslaughter.

Felony Endangerment And Manslaughter
A man from southern Minnesota named Colton Mammenga has been charged with manslaughter and felony endangerment. The felony endangerment charge was due to an incident where a 4-year-old boy picked up a handgun and accidentally shot his 2-year-old brother.
Such a tragic incident resulted in the younger boy’s death and caused the felony endangerment charge to Mammenga. The incident occurred while Mammenga, who is charged with felony endangerment, was in a moving pickup truck with the two boys and their mother.
Mammenga, who is now facing a felony endangerment charge, claimed that the older child had found the gun in the back seat. The older child accidentally shot his brother while the truck was in motion which then resulted in Mamengga facing charges of felony endangerment and manslaughter.
According to a published article by Star Tribune, deputies at the scene discovered guns, ammunition, and a bag of rounds inside the truck which strengthened the charges of felony endangerment. The mother, the man’s girlfriend who was charged with felony endangerment, stated that the incident was a tragic accident and they are still mourning the loss of their child.
Missing Gun Unnoticed By Colton Mammenga
In a published article by MPR News, Mammenga admitted to investigators that he did not notice the gun was missing until after the shooting. Mammenga is scheduled to appear in court on November 7th.
