Man Killed After Trying To Stop A Car Theft
Salvador Herrera, who tried to stop a car theft and was affectionately known as Salv, was a kind and helpful person who was loved by many. The man who tried to intervene in the car theft often went out of his way to help others, such as inviting migrants to eat with him at McDonald’s.
Although the man who tried to stop a car theft had no children, Salv was great with kids and would share his love for the White Sox with them. Tragically, Salv was killed in October while trying to stop a car theft.
He saw a group attempting to steal an unoccupied car and tried to intervene, but was shot by the robbers who were attempting to do a car theft and later died in the hospital. Family and friends gathered for a vigil on the street where he was killed after intervening in the car theft, praying for justice and change.
Salv had worked at Butterfield Country Club for 28 years, starting at the age of 14 to support his family after their father passed away. The community has been supportive, and his sisters have started a campaign called #justiceforsalv to raise awareness about their brother’s heroic actions of trying to stop a car theft and seek justice for his death.
According to a published article by the Chicago Tribune, the investigation is ongoing, and no one has been arrested yet.
