The Indiana State Medical Licensing Board announced that an Indianapolis doctor was reprimanded for violating privacy laws after performing an abortion procedure on a 10-year-old girl.

Indianapolis Doctor Performed an Abortion Procedure
Dr. Caitlin Bernard, an Indianapolis doctor, performed an abortion procedure on a 10-year-old girl who was a rape victim. However, the Indiana State Medical Licensing Board reprimanded Dr. Bernard after she was accused of violating privacy laws.
In a published article in FOX News, Dr. Bernard shared information about the abortion procedure publicly through the media. Additionally, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita also accused Dr. Bernard of not reporting the child abuse to the state law enforcement authorities, but this accusation was rejected by the board.
There was also a request from the Attorney General’s Office to suspend the license of Dr. Bernard, but the board also rejected this request.

Deputy Attorney General Released a Statement
According to a published article in POLITICO, Deputy Attorney General Cory Voight argued that Dr. Bernard was not acting in the best interest of her patient. He said, “There’s been no case like this before the board. No physician has been as brazen in pursuit of their own agenda.”
On the other hand, Dr. Bernard defended herself on Thursday saying that she followed Indiana’s reporting requirements. She also added that she notified the social workers about the child abuse, confirmed the ongoing investigation conducted by the Ohio authorities, and that she and her attorney agreed not to divulge any information about the 10-year-old girl.
