Man Found Guilty of First-Degree Murder

Nicholas Patrick, now 59 years old, was involved in the death of a 16-year-old high school student in Washington 30 years ago. The victim, Sarah Yarborough, was fatally strangled inside the campus of Federal Way High School in 1991.

In a published article in FOX News, King County Superior Court Judge Josephine Wiggs sentenced Patrick to nearly 46 years in prison. The jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and returned a special verdict that the crime was sexually motivated.

Meanwhile, the defense attorney of Nicholas Patrick is urging a mandatory minimum 20-year sentence since his client did not commit any crimes since then. However, Wiggs, who presided over the trial, said that imprisonment of more than 45 years was appropriate because of the facts of the case and his history of sexual violence.
