Temecula Valley School Board Rejects Harvey Milk Curriculum Proposal

Harvey Milk proposed to elementary school a social studies curriculum but the Temecula Valley school board members voted to reject the proposal. Harvey proposal got 2 votes approval and 3 votes of rejection and these rejection can lead to over 11,500 elementary students with no social studies textbooks.

The meeting of educators and community members ended in a frustration after the proposal was made. It was just over after the school board ended the meeting and rejected with over 3-2 votes and rejected the adoption of a new social studies curriculum.

The president of the Temecula Valley Educator Association, Edgar Diaz said that they never experience that before, even heard of a top-performing school district withholding that kind of materials. The school board members, Komrosky, Wiersma and Gonzalez said that the inclusion of gay official member Harvey Milk in the additional teachers materials he used in the 4th-grade.

Temecula Valley School Board Voted To Rejects Harvey Milk Curriculum Proposal

Harvey Milk is the first gay official that has been elected in the country and he was removed while serving on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Board Member Jennifer Wiersma said they don’t want their students to study an LGBTQ issue and they don’t want them also to study gender ideology. The 3board member who voted against the proposal even ask permission from the parents and they said no parents respond that’s why they will not approve the 2 Schwartz and Barclay voted to approve the new curriculum and said that if the parents don’t respond it’s not their fault that proposal is for the better of the students but some of them still reject the proposal.
