According to the Florida Department of Children and Families, the state terminated Medicaid enrollment for thousands of South Floridians over technicalities.

The DCF spokesperson said that it should be fixed immediately and 80% of the Medicaid beneficiaries currently have their eligibility reviewed and they already responded to the request to update their information. This delay would probably hurt and upsets the patients. Navigation Program Coordinator for Epilepsy Alliance Florid, Shirley Dominguez said that she is upset because it is very personal to her side.
She almost tore up while talking because Medicaid enrollment is very important to them and it is a big help to cover some medical expenses. She even added that she doesn’t know when the time comes they will benefit from it. Insurance is very helpful. Dominguez was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2017. And she says when she apply to Medicaid when she got work it helps a lot with her medical bills. She said that when six years from now, what will happen to those 200,000 people including less fortunate clients? Those clients she served at Epilepsy Alliance Florida’s Navigation Program. They have children with leukemia, they have disabled people. What will happen to them if Medicaid Enrollment will be canceled?

The covid19 Pandemic leaves a moratorium on the government to remove free income-based health insurance. 50 states right now began removing Medicaid rolls. Florida Department of Children and Families is now reviewing some cases on a rolling basis. They are hoping that this will not continue and the state would not remove the medical enrollment.
