The crash killed Marcos Faguada, 4, and left three others critically injured. According to the investigators, Miller raced with 47-year-old Keith Eric Jones driving more than 100 mph.
Miller was said to have lost control of his car and went across the median near Grays Lake Park wherein he crashed into Mayra De Catalan’s car, which was traveling the other way on Fleur Drive. According to WHO13 Des Moines, De Catalan suffered serious leg injuries while the 4-year-old Marcos Faguada died in the hospital.

The 35-year-old Robert Miller III of Urbandale was found guilty by the jury on Thursday in the December 13, 2022, Fleur Drive crash that left Marcos Faguada, 4, dead. The Polk County Attorney’s Office announced on Thursday, that Miller was guilty of intoxicatedly operating a motor vehicle, vehicular homicide by reckless driving and vehicular homicide by street racing. Miller faces up to 25 years in prison for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated charge alone and will be sentenced on July 14, 2023, according to WHO13 Des Moines.
Miller’s co-defendant, Keith Jones, 47, was charged with vehicular homicide as well and is scheduled to begin his trial on June 26.
