According to the police, a 2-year-old from Michigan was killed accidentally last Sunday.
How The 2-Year-Old Died
Authorities from Howell, Michigan reported that a 2-year-old from Michigan seemingly got a hold of an unattended gun. According to CBS News Detroit, the gun was believed to be shot around 6 p.m. last Sunday. The toddler was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but later died. The Sheriff’s Office of Livingston County, together with the Howell Police Department, will be conducting an investigation regarding the incident.
The shooting occurred days after a 6-year-old shot his baby brother. Charles Fitzgerald, Detroit Police’s Assistant Chief, reported that the baby was shot through his left shoulder and cheek while sitting on a baby bouncer. Last May, CBS Detroit reported that another 2-year-old accidentally shot himself, leading to his death.

Bills Implemented to Protect Children From Gun Accidents
Last April, Gov. Gretchen Wilmer from Michigan approved a bill that calls for guns to have safe storage requirements. The law was approved in the hopes of preventing more gun accidents involving children since there has been more than 110 child-related gun incidents before the law was signed.
Firearms are the primary reason for the death of children under the age of 18 in the U.S. According to Everytown for Gun Safety. Everytown added that ever since the start of 2015 up until the end of 2022, reports of at least 2,802 accidental shootings involving children under 17 resulted in injuries that amount to 1,815 and deaths up to 1,083.
