A Broome County man shot his companion with a crossbow while she was holding the couple’s 3-week-old daughter, killing the child and injuring the woman.

Early Monday, A New York father is accused of killing his 3-week-old daughter during an argument with his wife. According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office released a statement in the press Patrick Proefriedt, 26-year-old got into an argument with his wife in their house at Nineveh residence when the incident happened.
Police say that his wife was holding their 3-week-old newborn baby girl when he allegedly fired a broadhead crossbow bolt on her but instead aiming at his wife it hit the baby first. It hit the child on her torso near her armpit before hitting her mother’s chest.
According to the police, Proefriedt was shocked at what he did and immediately removed the bolt and tried to stop his wife from calling 911. He flee from the scene using a red 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck before police arrived.

3-Week-Old Newborn Baby Girl Was Killed By His Dad With A Crossbow
The 3-week-old newborn baby girl, Eleanor Carey was already pronounced dead at the scene and her mother was taken to the nearest hospital where she was treated for her injuries. Proefriedt was arrested by officials less than a mile away from the house. According to the police the man has already a history of domestic abuse with the victim and has the order to stay away from them. Now he is charged with second-degree murder for killing her daughter and police officer says that this is one of the most heartbreaking and senseless crime committed in their community.
