A Taos police officer and a 26-year-old suspect were involved in a shooting in New Mexico on Saturday, July 1. The state authorities revealed that the injured policeman was taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition.

KOB4 News reported that a state police officer from Taos responded to a “trespassing call,” where they found Aguilar on Siler Road.Â
As per the report, the shooting in New Mexico started when the authorities said the suspect tried to steal a vehicle at gunpoint to escape and fired at the police. They also revealed that they exchanged gunshots until one shot at the suspect until he died.Â
Meanwhile, the Taos town manager Andrew Gonzales refused to disclose information about the shooting in New Mexico and stated that the investigation is ongoing.Â
For KRQE, the shooting in New Mexico is still unclear how the incident happened.

Shooting in New Mexico over a seat dispute

According to NPR, Enrique Padilla, 19, was charged with shooting Michael Tenorio, 52, over a seat dispute.Â
The authorities found out later that Padilla was facing numerous charges, including shooting at an occupied building.Â
Meanwhile, as per the report, an off-duty officer tried to help the victim of the shooting in New Mexico and disclosed that he did not see any gun on the site.
