California Senator Introduces A Bill That Would Raise Minimum Wage In The State
The state of California could possibly raise the minimum wage of underpaid healthcare workers following Sen. María Elena Durazo‘s proposal for it. In the senator’s proposal, the state would raise the minimum wage for healthcare workers to $25 per hour starting June 1, 2025. Raising the minimum wage would be extremely beneficial for the underpaid sector of the working industry, especially for Black women, who are the least represented group of workers within the healthcare sector.
If the bill were to be implemented, it would allow for well-deserved compensation for all workers within all areas of the healthcare sector. The minimum wages of nurses, food service employees, janitors, and other employees within the healthcare sector of the state would be raised for good reason.

Beneficiaries Of The Bill That Would Increase Minimum Wage For Healthcare Workers
Increasing the minimum wage for healthcare workers is not designed to address the affordability crisis as it is a separate and much larger issue. Increasing the minimum wage for healthcare workers would mean that their daily efforts are acknowledged. Increasing the minimum wage for healthcare workers would be also a smart move since, statistically, reduce the number of turnovers. Research suggests that higher wages tend to reduce turnovers, resulting in a better quality of service for patients.
The proposal of Sen. Durazo states that not only licensed and professional healthcare workers would have their minimum wages increased, but employees who are employed at any healthcare facility would also be included in the bill.
