Goodwill Job Fair: A Gateway to Career Advancement

According to the article released by WDEF, on August 24, 2023, in an era of burgeoning employment opportunities, Hamilton County is facing an unexpected challenge—a shortage of skilled workers. Emily McHenry, representing Goodwill job fair of Greater Chattanooga, highlights the prevalent skills gap, where job seekers often lack the knowledge and abilities required to secure positions in today’s competitive job market.

To address the employment challenges faced by Hamilton County residents, Goodwill is hosting a Job Fair on August 24th, 2023, at its Job Connection Center. This event offers a unique opportunity for job seekers to engage directly with hiring managers from diverse sectors, including manufacturing, retail, food service, healthcare, and hospitality.

George Clark, Director of Career Services for Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area, highlights the event’s significance, not only as a chance for on-the-spot interviews and potential job offers but also as a platform for individuals to explore the comprehensive range of free services offered by Goodwill job fair to enhance their employability.

A Promising Outlook Amidst Rising Salaries

In a recent data provided by CHATTANOOGA, as employment statistics show a 4.9% growth rate in Hamilton County, nearly double the national average, there’s a promising outlook for job seekers. In addition, recent data reveals a ten percent increase in salaries over the past two years, further enhancing the attractiveness of the local job market. George Clark, Director of Career Services for Goodwill Job Fair Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area, encourages job seekers to be proactive and take advantage of the opportunities available.

The Job Fair, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 7601 East Brainerd Road, offers not only on-the-spot interviews but also insights into free services provided by Goodwill Job Fair, such as resume writing assistance and interview preparation. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged by calling 629-2501 ext. 3090. Goodwill Job Fair Connection Center remains open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., providing ongoing support to the community.
