Police have detained a man accused of sexually assaulting a victim in off-campus housing at the University of Cincinnati. The man was charged with rape and kidnapping.
According to Local12 News, It allegedly occurred at three in the morning. The Deacon on Thursday. According to the authorities, a weapon was “implied but not seen.” Cincinnati Police arrest 24-year-old Kadarius Short for aggravated robbery, rape and kidnapping.
According to reports, Short introduced himself as a resident advisor. If a person is unfamiliar to them, Chief Eliot Isaac advises asking to see their “Bearcat Card” for identification.
UC sophomore Hailey Wichard admitted, “I was quite scared. I thought I could walk the halls feeling safe, especially with cameras around.

The Deacon is where Wichard and her friend Deanna Berryhill are both staying. According to its website, it is one of UC’s newest off-campus housing communities.
I didn’t want to be alone because there aren’t often that many people in the hallways later in the evening, Wichard said. “The night I got the email, I had my boyfriend walk me up to my dorm.
Students claim that in addition to needing to swipe a card to enter the building, doing so at night also involves using it to ride the elevator.
Nora Matyac, a sophomore, says she is constantly concerned about crime near campus.
Even in the middle of the day, Matyac said, “It’s scary walking down the street.”
According to UC police, the perpetrator of a sexual assault bears sole responsibility for it, not the victim.
I mean, that’s why I don’t want to open my door to anyone else again, said Matyac. Living alone in a house or an apartment as a second year is terrifying, especially for a girl.
