The National Hurricane Center stated that the hurricane that hit Florida’s Big Bend, caused severe storm surge and damaging winds extending into southern Georgia.
The hurricane caused over 330,000 customers in Florida and Georgia is currently without power. The hurricane that hit Florida’s Big Bend caused floodwaters that resulted road closures and have entered homes.
Although there have been no reported deaths as Hurricane Idalia hit Florida’s Big Bend, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has cautioned residents to prepare for additional damages caused by Hurricane Idalia that hit Florida’s Big Bend.

Red Cross spokesperson said that 5,000 individuals that are affected by the hurricane have been relocated to over 110 shelters.
Florida’s Big Bend is known for being the untouched natural beauty of the state. Florida’s Big Bend is a haven for those seeking outdoor adventures like alligator hunting, tarpon fishing, and scallop searching in the shallow waters, AP News reports.
Unfortunately, on Wednesday, Florida’s Big Bend found itself directly in the path of the severe hurricane.
AP News added that the Florida’s Big Bend is a region where the peninsula transitions into the Panhandle. Florida’s Big Bend is situated southeast of the capital city, Tallahassee, and lies far north of the Tampa metropolitan area.
