Numerous Arrests in San Diego Through the Yearlong Auto-Theft Crackdown

Numerous arrests in San Diego were claimed through the effort of the yearlong undercover investigation by the San Diego Regional Auto Theft Task Force.

Regional Auto Theft Task Force reported numerous arrests in San Diego this week. 

In a report published by KPBS Weekend Edition, with the increase of auto theft, drug offenses, and an array of associated crimes in San Diego, the authorities designed a yearlong undercover investigation that resulted in numerous arrests in San Diego, as reported by the authorities on Thursday.

“Operation Sunrise” was named by the multi-agency investigation according to the San Diego Regional Auto Task Force, which broke up criminal organizations operating in the country, resulting in 100 pending prosecution cases and numerous arrests in San Diego.

RATT Reported on Wednesday that there were numerous arrests in San Diego counting 31 suspects who were detained and have been indicted in the case by a grand jury and 19 suspects at large. There have been numerous arrests in San Diego in just a week.

Numerous Crime Charged to the Offenders

According to the report by Patch, the numerous arrests in San Diego were found to be the offenders who will be charged with a number of crimes such as bulgary, grand theft; insurance fraud, vehicle, and identity theft, possession of stolen property; possession of firearms; selling cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine; illegal sales of guns and ammunition and high-capacity firearm magazines.

During a year of operation and investigation of these numerous arrests in San Diego, authorities caught illegal drugs, 14 firearms, and 172 stolen vehicles with a total estimated worth of $3.3 million, causing numerous arrests in San Diego, according to officials.

Last year, according to RATT, there were 198,538 vehicles stolen statewide, costing the victims to lose $1.76 billion. Year 2022, The regional agency reported San Diego as the third-highest for vehicle theft among California countries. With several crimes, the San Diego Auto Theft Task Force extended their effort to maximize the program, ending with numerous arrests in San Diego in just a week.
