New York Yankees reportedly could add the top free-agent slugger this offseason. The New York Yankees could look very different next season.
According to FanNation, the New York Yankees season has been underwhelming, but the team is stacked with talent. According to USA Today Sports’ Bob Nightengale, the New York Yankees are probably still a good month or two away from returning to the postseason, and the team reportedly has interest in star slugger Cody Bellinger this coming offseason.
Cody Bellinger, the former MVP who has turned around his two-year struggles with the Los Angeles Dodgers to become a savior with the Chicago Cubs, is expected to win, according to Nightengale. He was hitting 320 with 22 home runs, 81 RBI, and a.915 OPS as of Saturday. The Cubs, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees are anticipated to make the most aggressive offers, with the price likely to exceed $200 million and possibly even reach $300 million.

Bellinger is the ideal addition and has previously been connected to the New York Yankees. The former Dodger is the kind of additional power hitter that New York could use. Bellinger would also help the New York Yankees in the outfield, where they have needed some assistance.
As a member of the Cubs this season, the 2019 National League Most Valuable Player has regained his form and appears to be back to his former self. Bellinger is currently hitting.320/.364/.552 with 23 home runs, 84 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases so far this season.
Be prepared for New York to be one of the most active teams in free agency this coming offseason, and don’t be shocked if Bellinger is sporting pinstripes come 2024.
