Possession Of Child Pornography Charge
An Elgin police officer, Jordan Collins, has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography. Each count of the possession of child pornography is punishable by up to seven years in prison.
The Attorney General emphasized the case of possession of child pornography and the importance of holding child predators, especially those in positions of authority, accountable for their crimes. Collins, who is facing possession of child pornography charge, was arrested after evidence of child pornography was discovered in his home during a search.
According to a published article by FOX 32 Chicago, the officer has been placed on administrative leave, and further action may be taken pending the review of the possession of child pornography charges.
Collins, who is charged with possession of child pornography, has been with the Elgin Police Department for five years and is currently detained at the DeKalb County Jail.
Tip Received Illinois Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force
In a published article by CBS News, deputies from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s office searched Collins’ home and found evidence of child pornography, along with a large number of guns and ammunition.
The case originated from a tip received by the Illinois Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The City of Elgin Police Department emphasized that Collins’ actions do not define the entire department.
