Cities in Michigan, like Detroit and Flint, are often associated with deserted structures, struggling industrial areas, and high crime rates. Cities in Michigan such as Harper Woods have a population of 15,492 and a crime rate 121% higher than the state average.

According to a published article by the Southwest Journal, Jackson, another one of the dangerous cities in Michigan, has a population of 32,188 and a crime rate 127% higher than average. Benton Harbor, with a population of 8,892, has a crime rate 246% higher than the state average making it one of the most unsafe cities in Michigan.

Other cities in Michigan like Detroit have a population of 635,000 and a crime rate 248% higher than the state average. Muskegon Heights also made it to the list of the most dangerous cities in Michigan despite its small population of 10,730. It has a crime rate that exceeds the national average by 330%, making it the most dangerous city in Michigan.

Ann Arbor’s Ban On Gas-Powered Leaf Blowers

In a published article by Fox Business, Ann Arbor, a city in Michigan, has recently implemented a ban on gas-powered leaf blowers due to concerns about noise and health. The new law, proposed by city council members Jenn Cornell, Dharma Akmon, and Jen Eyer, was approved unanimously after several weeks of debate.

The decision was made to gradually phase out gasoline leaf blowers over four years to mitigate economic impacts on small businesses. Starting from January 1, 2028, the use of gas blowers will be completely prohibited, except for certain circumstances like construction work or emergencies. Until then, they will only be allowed between October and May.
