Professional Golfer Harold Varner III Charged with DWI in Southern Charlotte

According to jail records, professional golfer Harold Varner III was arrested for DWI in south Charlotte on Thursday night. While driving on Providence Road, Varner was arrested.

Golfer Harold Varner III Faces DUI Charges with Twice the Legal Limit in BAC

Court filings say Varner was arrested for driving “while subject to an impairing substance.” Varner’s breathalyzer test showed a BAC of.16, twice the legal limit.

Varner was booked at the Mecklenburg County jail at approximately 7:30 p.m. after his arrest. After that, his bond was $500. Varner was released after posting bond, according to records. The 33-year-old golfer will appear in court on January 19, 2024.

Gastonia native Varner played in the PGA before joining the LIV golf league. Golfed at East Carolina University from 2008 to 2012 after attending Forestview High School. Varner was inducted into the university’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022. He lives in south Charlotte.
