Cowboys Dominate Commanders 38-10, Clinch NFC East Title and Secure Second Seed

The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Washington Commanders 38-10 to win the NFC East and the second seed in the playoffs. In the 2023 regular-season finale, the Cowboys dominated offensively and defensively despite early struggles and mistakes. Wins were significant because they earned division titles and postseason seedings.

Cowboys Overcome Challenges for 21-10 Halftime Lead Against Commanders

The Cowboys deferred after winning the toss in a contest with wind and cold. The Commanders started well, but Jourdan Lewis’ Cowboys defense forced a turnover. A stunning eight-play, 67-yard drive ended with a Dak Prescott touchdown pass to Jalen Tolbert, giving the Cowboys an early 7-0 lead.

Injury and illness sidelined Cowboys Tyler Smith and Zack Martin for the game. T.J. Bass and Brock Hoffman were more than adequate substitutes. The Cowboys maintained their dominance despite these obstacles.

The Commanders tied the game with a touchdown, but Tony Pollard gave the Cowboys the lead. Pollard and CeeDee Lamb were key in the Cowboys’ 21-10 halftime lead.

Cowboys Secure NFC East Title with Dominant 38-10 Win

The offense and defense kept the Cowboys rolling in the second half. Peyton Hendershot stopped a punt and Parsons recorded his fourteenth sack of the season, helping the Cowboys lead. Prescott connected with Lamb and Brandin Cooks for touchdowns to lead 35-10.

Despite a Brandon Aubrey field goal miss, the Cowboys’ defense kept sacking the Commanders’ quarterback. Cooper Rush managed the clock well after Prescott. Aubrey’s 50-yard field goal gave the Cowboys a 38-10 win.

The win secured the NFC East title and the second playoff seed. After the Eagles lost, the Cowboys celebrated a delicious victory and headed into the playoffs with confidence.
