Alberto de Barros Arrested for Throwing Subway Sandwich at Worker in Food Service Dispute

A Stuart, Florida Subway visit developed into a stressful episode that led to a customer’s arrest. After learning that his sandwich had not been divided, Alberto de Barros got into a fight with a store employee, which led to a violent act.

When the worker told de Barros she would no longer serve him, he grew irritated and caused a scene. De Barros hurled the sandwich at the worker, hitting her mid-to-lower body during the heated argument. After leaving, the worker appropriately recorded his conduct and license plate, informing authorities.

De Barros confirmed his role but said he directed the sandwich at the counter, not the victim. However, surveillance footage showed de Barros stealing the sandwich from the counter and hitting the victim. Thus, the 54-year-old was arrested for violence and freed on a $1,000 bond.
