US Cities With Highest Violent Crime Rates

Chicago is one of the cities with highest violent crime rates. According to a published article by the Southwest Journal, this city has contributing factors that include poverty, gang-related violence,
and drug abuse. Measures to address the issues in this city include heavy police presence, patrols in high-crime areas, and community outreach programs.

Another city with highest violent crime rate is Minneapolis. This city has a high rate of violent crimes, including shootings, robberies, and assaults. There is also a high concentration of Somali immigrants and refugees struggling with discrimination and unemployment.

New Orleans in Los Angeles is also one of the cities with highest violent crime rates. This city is experiencing an alarming wave of violence. Contributing factors include poverty, low education rates among youth, and drug abuse.

Lansing is another location on the list of the cities with highest violent crime rates. Lansing is currently facing challenges related to increasing crime rates, particularly violent crimes. The city’s failure to maintain a lower violent crime rate poses a significant danger to its people.

Nashville is also among the cities with highest crime rates on the said list. Nashville is currently struggling to combat the rising violent crimes. The said city also experienced a significant spike in homicides and gun violence in 2021.

Annual Decrease In Homicides

In a published article by ABC News, preliminary data from law enforcement agencies indicate that the United States is on track to experience the largest annual decrease in homicides on record in 2023.

The homicide rate is expected to drop by almost 13% compared to 2022, meaning that over 2,000 fewer individuals fell victim to homicide this year.

This decline in homicides is surprising given that more than three-quarters of Americans perceive an increase in crime nationwide, with over half believing that crime in their local areas has also worsened, according to a recent Gallup poll.
