Sanjay Tandon is an Indian politician in the Bhartiya Janata Party. He’s the son of Balramji Das Tandon, known for his BJP legacy in Punjab. Contesting his first election, he’s the BJP candidate for the 2024 Indian general election in Chandigarh.

His father, a prominent BJP figure, served Punjab for 14 years and won 6 assembly elections. He penned his father’s biography, “Balramji Dass Tandon: Ek Prerak Charitra,” signed by L. K. Advani. His father-in-law, Justice Madan Mohan Punchhi, was once Chief Justice of India. Additionally, he authored the “Sunrays” series, endorsed by major BJP leaders, including Narendra Modi.

Sanjay Tandon was born on 10 September 1963 in Amritsar, Punjab, India. Sanjay Tandon’s age is 61 years as of 2024. Tandon finished high school at DAV Public School in Chandigarh. He pursued his B.Com with Honors in Accountancy at Post Graduate Government College – 11, Chandigarh, which was then known as Government College for Men and affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Sanjay Tandon’s parents names are Balramji Das Tandon (Politician; Former Governor of Chhattisgarh) and Brij Pal Tandon (Teacher). Sanjay Tandon has two sisters Alka Kawatra and Poonam Batra (Image Coach & CMO at Exodus Overseas).

Sanjay Tandon Career

Tandon’s political journey began in 1991, overseeing Lok Sabha elections in Amritsar for the BJP. He later managed elections in Jalandhar in 1993 and joined the BJP Executive in Chandigarh in 1995. In 1997, he led Assembly elections in Punjab’s Rajpura constituency. He also chaired the Chartered Accountants Cell of BJP Chandigarh.

In 2002 and 2007, he supervised assembly elections and assumed the role of General Secretary of BJP Chandigarh, respectively. He initiated the party’s monthly magazine, ‘Chandigarh Kamal Samachar,’ in 2009. Additionally, he managed Lok Sabha elections in 2009 when Satya Pal Jain contested from Chandigarh. He served as the State President of BJP Chandigarh in January 2010 and was reinstated in January 2013.

He penned his father’s biography, titled “Balramji Das Tandon – An Inspirational Journey.” Notable leaders such as Sh. K. C. Sudarshan, Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sh. L.K. Advani, Sh. Rajnath Singh, Sh. Prakash Singh Badal, Sh. Narendra Modi, Sh. Murli Manohar Joshi, Sh. M. Venkaiah Naidu, Sh. Arun Jaitley, and Sh. Balbir Punj have contributed to the foreword.
