On Wednesday, the brick wall at Oracle Park in San Francisco didn’t exactly help the home team.
American Professional Baseball Outfielder, Luke Raley of the Tampa Bay Rays took advantage of the weird wall Barry Bonds repeatedly cleared to slug a home run inside the park.
American Professional Baseball Outfielder, Raley, took a breaking ball from Ross Stripling deep into the right-center field in the top of the sixth inning with a score of 5-0, likely anticipating a double. But he would quickly discover that he could run for days.
Giants center fielder Wade Meckler did not anticipate the ball’s bounce as it struck the angled brick wall before hitting the top of the matted fence at a distance of more than 400 feet.

Meckler attempted to correct his footing in order to prevent American Professional Baseball Outfielder, Raley, from moving past second before the ball traveled farther away from him, but when he stumbled on the warning track, the scorekeepers started writing “HR” in their books.
American Professional Baseball Outfielder, Raley, had reached third base and was advancing 90 feet toward home when Meckler finally caught the ball all the way out in center field. Before the ball could even return to the infield, he scored, giving Tampa Bay a 6-0 lead.
The Rays managed to hang on and win 6-1.
Since July 18, when they were a season-high 14 games over.500, the Rays have struggled, going 11-16. They still have a wild-card spot, but due to a recent losing streak, they are only just in the clear.
Los Angeles Dodgers, the Giants’ division rival, have won nine straight games to extend their lead in the NL West to 9.5 games.
The Rays, who have cooled off after a hot start to the season, desperately needed the victory.
During the first 39 games of the season, Tampa Bay went 30-9, winning its first 13 games. The Rays have since gone 43-41.
