Authorities claim that the remains of a United States Army veteran whose human remains found in Arizona 27 years ago outside of Kingman have been identified.
Human remains found in Arizona Identified
According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, two men who were looking for rocks and walking their dogs on January 22, 1996, and human remains found in Arizona in a small grave three miles north of Stockton Hills Road.
A head wound from a gunshot was found to be the victim’s cause of death. It was possibly a homicide victim who was interred in a shallow grave.
Investigators submitted a sample to a Texas lab in February after multiple failed attempts to identify the human remains found in Arizona. The victim was recognized by the lab as Sherman George from Los Angeles County according to sophisticated DNA testing.

Human remains in Arizona Identified as Sherman George
Until February, when sheriff’s investigators sent a DNA sample to a Texas-based forensic research business, attempts to identify the human remains found in Arizona were unsuccessful.
Scientists confirmed the human remains found in Arizona as George through cutting-edge DNA testing. According to sheriff’s officials, George was an Army veteran who was known to frequently visit the deserts in California and Arizona with his military comrades before he passed away.
They claimed that George had never been reported missing and was separated from his family, who last saw him in late 1994 before the human remains found in Arizona 2 years later yet unidentified.
