52-year-old Candy Marie Basil was shot by police officers after she terrorized her whole neighborhood while waving a gun, as seen from an officer’s bodycam.
Police Responded to A Mental Health Complaint When They Encountered the Armed Woman
The Police Department of Louisville was called to a mental health complaint when they came across the armed 52-year-old Candy Marie Basil. According to the officers at the scene, Basil was waving a gun at her neighbors repeatedly and fired at a vehicle with it. She then pointed her gun at the officers, which compelled them to act. It was said that Basil had a history of mental health issues.
While Basil was waving a gun at the neighborhood and toward the officers, they repeatedly requested Basil to drop her gun, to which she repeatedly refused. She was shot by Officer Donald Brian Wyatt when she was still waving a gun and was walking toward the officers. The entire incident was witnessed through Officer Wyatt’s bodycam, where we can see Basil waving a gun.

What Happened to Basil After Waving a Gun at Her Neighborhood and After Being Shot?
After waving a gun around a neighborhood, which surely left the people within it terrorized, and towards police officers. The 52-year-old was charged with the endangerment of a police officer and a criminal charge of menacing.
The whole “waving a gun” shooting incident is still under investigation by the Incident Response Team of the Kentucky State Patrol.
