According to Warren police Lt. Christopher Perreault, the officer, Jacob Rapoza, the former Tiverton school resource officer, was detained by Warren police based on a warrant related to injuries that sent a child to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

In a report published by The Providence Journal, Rapoza, the former Tiverton school resource officer, had been charged by Tiverton police with disorderly conduct and violence in March, and at the time of his detention, he was free on bail. Rapoza appeared before Judge Melissa Dubose in Providence District Court for a bail hearing in connection with the earlier charges from Tiverton following his arraignment on the Warren police charges on Thursday.

Rapoza, the former Tiverton school resource officer, was ordered jailed without bond after Dubose determined him to be in violation. After a young person was transported to the hospital, a warrant was issued. A news release from Perreault claims that only Warren police detectives looked into a report of child abuse after a minor was taken to the hospital, but it does not go into detail about the alleged child abuse.

Rapoza, the former Tiverton school resource officer, surrendered himself in after they obtained a warrant, it claims. According to an online court document, Rapoza is charged with second-degree child abuse that occurred on Wednesday.
