According to the report published by American Military News, in September 12, 2023,  in the heart of southern Alabama, a beacon of hope shines brightly for veterans, first responders, and their families struggling with mental health challenges.  Mental Health Advocate or Vets Recover, also known as Veterans Recovery Resources, is a dedicated mental health nonprofit founded in 2015 by John Kilpatrick, a U.S. Military veteran with a background in the Medical Service Corps of the U.S. Army. This passionate mental health advocate established Vets Recover to address the pressing need for comprehensive mental health care in the region. The nonprofit offers an array of services, including primary care, outpatient mental health treatment, and community integration programs such as volunteer outreach and support groups. With an unwavering commitment to holistic care, Vets Recover takes a proactive approach to address the root causes of mental health issues.

Recently, the mental health advocate,  they’ve embarked on an ambitious expansion project, renovating a historic school in Mobile’s Campground neighborhood to create a 34-bed inpatient facility.
