A North Carolina couple is now being charged in relation to the disappearance and murder of an 18-year-old.
North Carolina Couple Charged In Relation To The Disappearance And Death Of Kierstyn Williamson
A North Carolina couple has been detained by deputies in connection with the murder of Kierstyn Williamson, a teenager who went missing last Sunday from Laurens, South Carolina. According to the police, Williamson, 18, mysteriously disappeared without a trace after going on a date with someone she met online.
As stated by an online press release by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the family members informed South Carolina authorities after they lost contact with Williamson on June 30. UCSO then hopped into the investigation after learning that Williamson had visited a Monroe residence in North Carolina. As reported by ABC News, Willamson had been talking to the man she met online for a month before deciding to go out on a date. It was believed that Willamson first made contact with the North Carolina couple during her night at the known Monroe residence.

Charges Filed Against The Arrested North Carolina Couple
Authorities claim that Joshua Newton, a Monroe local and one of the arrested North Carolina couple, drove the teenager more than two hours back to his house in North Carolina from the Laurens restaurant where Williamson worked. Last Wednesday morning, USCO confirmed finding Williamson’s body a few kilometers from the house on Tuesday night.
The North Carolina couple, Joshua Newton and Victoria Smtih were both arrested following a thorough investigation, according to the police. According to USCO, Smith, 22, was charged with accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice while Newton was charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice. According to police, both suspects are still being held while the homicide investigation moves along.
