Russian Military Recruitment Officer Killed While Jogging
As the Russian army tries to gather personnel to fight in Ukraine, a Russian military recruitment officer was shot and killed while he was jogging in the southwest city of Krasnodar, according to police. The Russian military recruitment officer was Stanislav Rzhitski, according to police officials and the Russian state-run news outlet TASS. According to Reuters and the BBC, Rzhitski was included in an official Ukrainian database of accused war criminals.
The Investigative Committee, which looks into major crimes, said in a statement later in the day that the body of the 42-year-old military recruitment officer with “gunshot wounds” had been discovered on Monday morning. According to them, Rzhitski served as the assistant to the Krasnodar city administrator in charge of “mobilization operations” for the army. Investigators are currently looking to identify the perpetrator and determine any potential motives.
How The Russian Military Recruitment Officer Was Killed And His Relation To Ukraine’s Blacklist
The killer may have traced the military recruitment officer’s runs on Strava since he frequently ran the same route, according to Baza, a Russian Telegram channel with strong links to the authorities, as reported by BBC. The military recruitment officer’s profile is open to the public, and a BBC investigation of it reveals that he routinely ran past the area where he was shot. BBC’s facial analysis verified that the profile belonged to Rzhitsky.
According to the BBC, which cited the Russian daily newspaper Kommersant, the military recruitment officer was shot in the back and the chest next to the Olimp sports center. According to Reuters, Rhitski’s address and other details were published on the Ukrainian website Myrotvorets (Peacemaker), which includes an unofficial list of those deemed to be Ukraine’s enemies.
