Darren Bailey, a former state senator and former candidate for governor on the Republican side, is leading this most recent opposition against Illinois Assault Weapons Ban.

In the recent lawsuit that was filed in White County, Bailey is one of the numerous plaintiffs. It asserts that the Illinois Constitution is broken by the Illinois Assault Weapons Ban.

Their request for a temporary restraining order on Illinois Assault Weapons Ban will be the subject of a hearing on Wednesday. In Effingham County, Thomas DeVore, the lawyer for those plaintiffs, also filed a lawsuit challenging this ban.

Just last week, a judge in that case issued a restraining order, preventing anyone involved in that lawsuit from having the law applied to them for the time being.

Kwame Raoul, the Illinois attorney general, formally appealed that decision. He is requesting that the court overturn and nullify the TRO.

In a defiant speech, former Republican candidate for governor of Illinois Darren Bailey said he would die on his front porch to oppose on Illinois Assault Weapons Ban in a video that was posted on Friday.

Bailey said in the Facebook Live video as he was opposing the Illinois Assault Weapons Ban, “I will not let anyone come and take anything from me, and if need be, as I quoted before, I will die on this front porch before I give up any of my Second Amendment freedoms.
