1. Lake City

Coming at the top 1, Lake City is known as the state’s most dangerous city with a crime rate of over 1,547 per 100,000 residents. The city may be known as the most dangerous within the state but it also ranks among the worst within the country. Despite having a lower population density and lower costs of living than the other cities, Lake City actually suffers from high poverty rates and high crime rates.

2. Riviera Beach

Right next to Lake City is Riviera Beach in this list. Despite having only 35,000 residents, the city actually has a high crime rate. The city’s murder rate is seven times the country’s average, making it the worst city in the state with regard to murder.

3. Cocoa

Cocoa is already known for its high crime rates despite having a low population. The crime rates in this city are 2.8 times the country’s average. Assaults and burglaries are the most common crimes in this city.

4. Lake Worth

Just a quick drive from Riviera Beach, Lake Worth is also known for its high crime rate within Florida, with crime rates over 2.5 times the country’s average. Unlike the previous cities on this list, crimes in Lake Worth are actually declining these past few years.

Panama City is actually known as one of the state’s most violent cities despite it being a popular beach destination. The city is recognized for its breathtaking destinations and spots for recreational activities by murders and armed robberies stain the city’s reputation.

6. Lauderhill

Lauderhill is actually experiencing an increase in crime rates recently. Last 2022, its crime rates rose to 20% from 2018. Its overall crime rate is 878 per 100,000 residents, meaning that people from Lauderhill are 2.8 times more likely to be crime victims compared to the average Florida resident.

7. Homestead

Homestead’s cost of living is high compared to the other cities of Florida. The city is known for its mixed demographics of younger and older generations. Despite being a more decent city compared to the previous cities on this list, it still ranks within Florida’s most dangerous cities this year due to its rising rates of property and other violent crimes.

8. Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach is known for its spring break celebrations and race tracks, which attract tourists annually. However, it still ranks among Florida’s most dangerous places to live. The crime rate in this city is 1,006 per 100,000 residents, which means that people from this city are three times more likely to be crime victims.

9. Tallahassee

The city ranks as one of the worst cities in Florida due to its high crime rates. Tallahassee has reported over 1,516 crimes, which is about 774 per 100,000 residents. This makes the city twice more dangerous as per the state and national crime rate averages.

10. Orlando

Orlando City, Florida’s most populated city, takes the last spot for this list as the city has seen a decent decline in crime rates since 2002, but the city still has a violent crime rate that is 2.2 higher than the state average.
